Screenings and conversations
This film indirectly "documents" a lecture by the Chinese-Austrian artist Jun Yang, by framing away
his appearance and editing out his English speech, and instead solely showing the Japanese
interpreter Noriko Kobayashi at work.
As revealed by the talk, Yang's work itself is about uncertainty of self in the state of translation.
Here, through the (mis)use of "I", the "medium" keeps surrogating the "original," until the last scene where
the film's ever-growing Matryoshka structure finally collapses.
Cinematographer: Hikaru Fujii
English subtitles: Yu Araki.
