Yuki Okumura Body Contract (Exceptional Case) 2014; HD video 110 minutes 20 seconds; featuring Shuzo Azuchi Gulliver; camera by Yu Araki In his project “Body Contract” (1973-), Japanese artist Shuzo Azuchi Gulliver has made an unusual series of contracts with various people: each obliged to preserve one of 80 divisions of his body after his death. In response to this ongoing project, I proposed him to have a public discussion on the possibility of an ex- ceptional contract with me, regarding the part of his existence that has been left intact by the project: his consciousness. Documenting my negotiation with him, which took place at blanClass, Yokohama, March 30, 2014, this film was first exhibited in a two person show with Shuzo titled "Shi," held at Etablissement d'en face, Brussels, Nov-Dec, 2014.
